Artist Michael Walek
After obtaining art degrees from University of Cincinnati, Tufts, and the School of Museum of Fine Arts, I opened the Walek Gallery in Kennebunkport, ME. My works are represented in numerous collections throughout Europe and the United States, and I have been honored to be in exhibitions at many universities. Currently, I have a two person show at Sharon Weiss Gallery in Columbus, OH, and I am proudly represented by George Marshall Store Gallery in York, ME.

Artist Statement
value New England’s landscape and history and paint on location here and abroad.  Traveling opens new perspectives on distant societies and environments. My works are observations of immediate atmospheric and color events. A whole other color palette appears with new locations.  Gouache captures the subtle color hues depicting light as it transitions over time. The smaller gouaches are often used to create larger acrylics in the studio.  The painting of Perkins Cove is from the Woodbury studio preceding Narrow Cove and the museum.  The absence of buildings allows the viewer to focus on a landscape that was quintessential of the coast many years ago.
